Grommet selection should start with the finished hole and the material around it. Identify the front and rear components and the installation arrangement so the dimensions can be reviewed against the actual material stack.
Grommets specification checklist
- Required internal hole diameter and outside flange dimensions.
- Material type and total thickness at the installation point.
- Barrel length and any matching washer or backing reference.
- Installation equipment reference, finish and required sample checks.
Why is material thickness needed?
The grommet has to fit through and retain the material at the hole. Provide the full stack, including reinforcement or lining, and identify the matching parts. Review a fitted sample using the intended installation method before approving the combination.
